Haunted Happenings
Why sail to the Islands of Greece, when you can drive to Providence, Rhode
Island for an authentic taste of Greece. Andrea’s Restaurant is located in the
heart of the East Side’s main shopping street in Providence, RI.  Andrea’s has
been serving traditional Greek food for over 44 years.

Inside Andrea’s the warm decor with the dark wood, compliments the fresh
white linen tablecloths. Andreas offers an interesting view of passersby
through large glass windows as you sip on a drink or sample the Greek and
American cuisine. Outside during nice weather you can also dine at tables
under awnings along the sidewalk, as students and other East side visitors
stroll by. The restaurant seats about 100 people in a non smoking, family
friendly environment.

Andrea’s dinner menu has numerous choices to suite any appetite. Wine
prices are very reasonable, with the house Greek red or white wine around $5
and very good. The menu offers tantalizing dishes such as  Moussaka which is
a dish of minced beef, roasted eggplant, and potato topped with a Bechamel
sauce or  Thalassomakaronada which is an exotic  dish of seared sea
scallops, jumbo shrimp, little necks and swordfish tossed with a plum sauce,
sundried tomatoes and green onions. Finished in Andrea’s signature  garlic and
santorini wine reduction and served over linguine. Then of course for those a
little less adventurous the menu also has a large selection of traditional style
fare such as Buffalo wings, fried mozzarella sticks, pasta, fish, beef, and
shrimp dishes. They even have ‘designer’ burgers -- open flame broiled Black
Angus chopped sirloin. These have names like “Olympian Burger” and “Greek
Burger”, but they’re still the familiar American burger with just a touch of
Greece.

For appetizers we decided on spanikopita which is fresh organic baby spinach
blended with feta cheese and seasoned with fresh herbs stuffed in flaky filo
dough. We also ordered melitzanosalata which is a classic Greek dip, fresh
baked eggplant melded with roasted garlic, red peppers and mixed herbs and
served with locally soft baked pita bread.

Now that we were revisiting Greece and reliving the exotic flavors the Islands
have to offer it was time to order the entrees. Herb-Crusted pork tenderloin and
Leg of Lamb were selected. The Herb-Crusted pork tenderloin was delicately
cooked to perfection. Hand crusted in Andrea’s blend of herbs and spices and
served with a freshly prepared fig and red currant chutney. Bursting with flavor
I was amazed at how wonderful pork could be. The Leg of lamb arrived good
and hot as it was fire grilled. Seasoned with fresh garlic and topped with a
minted demi glaze, this was a lamb lover’s ecstasy. Both entrees were served
with choice sides of soup of the day or individual Greek salad  and potato or
rice and a vegetable.

When you don’t have time or money for a vacation to the Greek Islands, we
highly recommend that you take a short drive to Andrea’s Restaurant. The
exotic flavors of the islands that captivate your senses and arouse your taste
buds await you.
